When you win a satellite on PokerStars, you have the option to unregister from that event and receive Tournament Dollars. If you win multiple seats to the same target event, you'll automatically get T$. T$ can be used to register in any Stars tournaments. T$ differ from real money, because they cannot be used in real money games or be cashed out - only for buying into tournaments.
Most people sell T$ and W$ because they'd like to convert them to cash. T$ cannot be used for cash games or be cashed out - they can only be used to enter into more tournaments
Absolutely. All transactions are handled from within the PokerStars client. Both the buyer and seller must submit a matching request to PokerStars for a transaction to complete. Bottom line: there's no way for anyone to default on a T$ purchase. If something goes wrong, the transaction is simply cancelled and you retain your T$.
