Should You Sell Tournament Dollars?
That’s a question that many people face in online poker, and there’s no one good answer.
Selling tournament dollars has a lot of positives to go with it. You can cash out the money, for one – that’s huge for most players. It does you no good to have lots of money in T$ if you need to cash it out. There’s also the flexibility of being able to use your money however you want to use it, another quality that T$ lack. Converting tournament dollars into real cash, then, basically gives you more flexibility with your money – more control over your money.
What’s the downside? It’s pretty much just one thing: cost. The good news is that there’s not much cost involved. You will generally pay about 3% of the total amount that you’re selling – so if you want to sell $100 in T$, then you need to pay a fee of about $3. It’s not the end of the world, but what you need to do is evaluate how much the flexibility is worth to you – for most people it turns out to be a bargain.
